Newsletter Fall 2011

Dear Juice Customers,

Welcome to the 2011 grape harvest. A wetter than normal spring gave us some pause – especially in getting the spring work accomplished.

A hotter than normal July got the vines back on track – so we are now looking at a normal crop with good fruit maturity.

We are excited to bring you the availability of two new varietal offerings this year – although both have limited availability.

  1. Marquette – an early maturing red wine variety that has exhibited good wine quality. This variety comes to us from the Minnesota (cold hardy) grape breeding program.
  2. Valvin Muscat – a mid-late season white variety recently released by the Cornell University grape breeding program at the Geneva Experiment Station. It is a cross of (Muscat Ottonel x Couderc 299-35). It makes a spicy/aromatic wine particularly good for blending or as a dessert style on its own.

As with previous years, we suggest you place your order early and pick your juice up towards the beginning of its availability.

We appreciate having you as a customer and look forward to satisfying your grape juice needs this year.

Sincerely,

The Randall-Standish Crew

P.S. You can purchase the majority of your home winemaking needs (carboys, yeast, fermentation locks etc.) from “Barrel Necessities” at Randall-Standish.
